Remove the two screws

Take the electronics board off. Put the two light bulbs aside (at the ends of the model), you might loose them.

Use a flat screwdriver to remove the two clips that are holding the motor in place.

Remove the two worms from the motor. In this case, I’ve cut a nail that fits in there, just sticking out a little higher. You can read more about removing worms and gears in this article on this website.

This is what you are left with.

Firmly press the worm on the brass adapter until you can’t get it further. Do this for both worms.

Glue the adapters on with super glue or Loctite.

On one side, solder a wire, on the other side, a piece of copper strip or a thicker, bare wire that can make the contact with the chassis.

Slide the whole assembly in and test it. Check that it is going in the same direction as your other trains, otherwise you’ll have to turn the motor around.

Re-assemble the model. Don’t get confused with the purple wire. I replaced the original green wire with a piece of ultra thin wire. Purple was the colour that I happened to have laying around.

And one more model has been brought back to the future!
