Glueing worm and adapter

These tips are if you:

- need to glue a brass worm or brass adapter to a motor shaft.

- need to glue a worm to a brass adapter.

Don’t use super glue, as, in most instances, you will not have time to position the part. This can be as fast as just sliding it half way on, and it’s already stuck. The glue to use is the blue stuff, aka “tread locker”. Though the red glue for metal will also be fine, it will be much harder to get the worm/adapter off, later on, when wanting to make adjustments.

Examples of glue to use:

Loctite 242 or 243 (The difference between Loctite 242 and Loctite 243 is that Loctite 243 is a slightly upgraded version of Loctite 242. You’re unlikely to notice the difference, but 243 actually has a slightly better oil tolerance than Loctite 242.)

Glueing worm onto an adapter

1

With a needle/lace pin, apply a bit of glue on the inside of the worm or adapter.

2

Slide the worm/adapter on the motor shaft. It’s best to leave a little space between motor housing and worm/adapter, to reduce the risk of glue entering the motor and for the motor shaft to have a little play.
